I was sent some information on a new study that is being done at the University of Michigan. They are looking for students from the US who will fill in a survey that will hopefully help improve the college experience for those affected by Inflammatory Bowel Disease in the future.
New Study on IBD Being Conducted at the University of Michigan!
Study Title: "The Effect of Inflammatory Bowel Disease on Students?
Adjustment to College"
Study Purpose:
We are trying to better understand how having inflammatory bowel
disease impacts students in college. Specifically, we are looking to
see if having Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis has any impact on
these students' ability to adjust to college and, if so, what are the
implications of that impact. For more information, please click on
link below and read the posted informed consent form.
How to Participate:
Visit the the UM Crohn's & Colitis Program website (link below) and
follow these steps:
1) Go to: www.med.umich.edu/ibd
2) Click on the "Participate in Student Adjustment to College study"
link on the left
3) Read over the information on this page carefully
4) Read the Informed Consent form carefully (more details about the
study are contained here)
5) IF you have been diagnosed with either Crohn's disease or
ulcerative colitis:
- please enter the email addresses of 2 friends of yours who do NOT have
Crohn's or colits.
- please make sure your 2 friends are of similar age, study habits,
background, etc...
- their emails will remain *anonymous*
IF you do *not* have Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis:
- please skip to the next step and begin the survey
6) Click on the link in item #3 and complete the survey!
- The survey should take about 45 minutes to complete.
Thank you for taking time to contribute to the growing body of
research on these important diseases. Your participation will
hopefully serve to improve the quality of life of college students
with Crohn's and colitis.
Please feel free to browse the UM Crohn's & Colitis website for
various information, including information tailored towards college
students with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis as well as
additional information on diagnosis, nutrition, and information for
