Hi, I'm John. I am 60 years old and was diagnosed with Crohn's 4 months ago. It took 2 months to diagnose. I was going to have surgery on 12 October 2011, but it was called off because of blood work that needed to be done.

I had been feeling good for a couple of weeks, and I think I'm going to put my surgery off to go back to work because I'm afraid of losing my job. I had two fistulas and they have since gone away. I also have a very bad taste in my mouth, but I don't know what it is.

Has anyone else had these problems? Let me know. Thanks

I'm currently taking:

-Remicade every 6 weeks
-Asacol H.D. 800 2, 3 times a day

Hi John :welcome: to the forum. What kind of blood work needed to be done? Sometimes having a bad taste can be problems going on in your stomach? I dunno, I get my bad tastes from medicine uusally.

Where where they going to do your surgery? Just curious if putting it off is a good idea but I can see the point of losing your job...that isnt fair. How long have you been on Remicade?

Glad you are here, many here to give you their experiences~ great bunch here!

Hi John,
Im waiting to be diagnosed with something, had colonoscopy and was told IBD but waiting on biopsy results. Im 43 and thought maybe I was too old to have Crohns but I guess not.
Can you not go to Citizens advice to find out more where you stand regarding work? Surely they cannot sack you whilst off sick?

Hi John and welcome! I am glad you are feeling better and that your fistulas have healed. But don't tax yourself too much at work! I understand you don't want to lose your job, but your health is #1.

How long have you been on Remicade now? Perhaps your treatment is doing the trick and surgery can be postponed for a good long while. Are you going to have any testing to see if Remicade is in fact helping?

I hope you continue to feel well!
