I was daignosed with crohn's about ten years ago. I have bad stomach cramps, diarrheah, I have kidney stones, and prominent bilateral sacroiliitis and levoscoliosis of the lumbar spine which the doctor says is common with crohn's. I have always had trouble with vomiting but lately everytime I eat I vomit I have went down 4 pants sizes in the last two months. My gi doctor never pays much attention to the vomiting. he recomeded that I see a surgeon to have the surgery on lower esophigeal valve, but the surgeon didn't want to do the surgery because I have motility issues and if i am not able to vomit and relieve the pressure I would be miserable which makes sense to me. I am in the process of looking for a new GI doctor, that does the capsule endoscopy. I am not on any medications for the Crohn's because mine is in the illium and my dr said medications only work lower in the colon. I am not working because my last employer was very upset with my doctors apointments, and procedures I had to go to during work hours. I had a kidney stone blocking my ureter and had to have two surgeries. I ended up quiting because of all the animosity they had towards me. It is hard to get a job when you have kidney pian, back pain, stomach cramping, diarrheah and vomiting every day. I have not had much luck getting help from my GI doctor or my urologist. I am hoping that by sharing my story I can get some advice on how other's deal with all of the issues that come with having Crohn's.

Hi and welcome! Do you think its possible that you have the start of an obstruction? with the vomiting that you have, maybe food can't get through so your body is just finding the next best way to get rid of it. I would definitely start looking for another GI if your not happy with the one you are seeing now. As far as not being able to work, have you thought about applying for SSI? There are several people that are on this forum that can't work because of Crohn's that receive SSI. I hope it all gets sorted out soon!

Glad you are looking for a new Gi.
No matter where yours crohn's is including the ileum meds can help.
Once you get the inflammation under control the vomiting should stop .
It did for my son ( age 8) and he had inflammation from end to end.
Good luck

I have taken predisone several times, I have taken entocort, and also asicol.(sp?) My current Gi dr took me off of everything about 4 years ago. He did put me back on predisone about 1 year ago, and gave me some medication to help me digest food, but it made me really sick and bad cramping. I am hoping that by finding a new dr I can get some relief. last visit to my dr he said he isn't sure why I am vomiting and it is not usually related to crohn's, my endoscopy looked ok and that he would see me in a year. I don't understand. Thanks for all of the responses.

I agree with My little Penguin...find a new GI doc. I too have Crohn's in my TI and medications did help me, for along time. I also agree that your vomiting could be an obstruction, although I have a good friend with a son who was recently diagnosed with Crohn's, and one of his primary symptoms was vomiting, and he has no obstructions. Please make sure you find a doctor who takes all of your symptoms seriously.

I do hope you get some symptom relief very soon.

Hi Jason and welcome to the forum.

I must admit I am shocked that your doc has not had you on meds because of where you crohn's is mainly located and has said that vomiting does not happen with this - have you see certificates to confirm he actually went to med school because I must admit I am doubtful! Just to confirm the recent endoscopy you had was that were they looked at the 'bottom end'?

I really hope you can be getting to see a new doc who will look into things properly for you, please keep us updated on how you are doing.

Hi Jason
it sounds like you really are going through it at the moment. I agree with Angrybird. I can't believe that the dr has said that meds don't work.
I would find another dr as soon as you can I had to go through 3 before i found one that would take me seriously about how I knew there was something wrong with me, I'm a firm believer that there is no one better than yourself for saying that you know there is something not right with 'your' own body.

If you do have a blockage can this not be seen on a ct or mri scan? save you the pain of having an invasive procedure.
I wish you all the best and hope this is sorted out soon for you.

The endoscopy I had done was at least 9 months ago, he could only see a small portion of the affected area. The only time the whole affected area was seen was 7 years ago when a capsule endoscopy was done. I think I need to find a new dr asap so I can get a ct or mri done. For the past 15 years I have vomited but not everytime I eat like it has been lately. I did get some nutritional shakes today and maybe that will help with the weight loss and tiredness. Thank you all for your responses.

Welcome to the forum Jason.

Dont let anyone fob you off and just say they will see you in a year. there is obviously something goin on and its there job to find out.

Kepp eing persistant, if nothing else works take yourself down to the ER and they should look into it further for you. keep drinking lots of your vomiting as dont want to get dehydrated x
