I was diagnosed with Crohn's in 1983, had a small bowel resection in 1997, and am facing an ileocolectomy next week. I had been relatively system-free using Humira and Azathioprine, but when I had flares they tended to cause bowel obstructions and abscesses in the area that's now going to be taken out.

I'm a little nervous about the upcoming surgery, feeling a bit anxious about being out of work for 4-6 weeks, and can't wait to get this over with!

Sorry I can't be of more help. My son had surgery August before last but his was an ileocecectomy so the removal of a bit of small bowel, the ileocecal valve and the cecum. So much less recovery time for him.

I hope all goes well for you and I'm sure other will be along with their experience soon.

I had a bowel resection in April of 2010
I didn't return to work until at least June of that year. I was nervous about the procedure. Hope the best. Keep us updated. Support.
