Hey, all. Newbie here! Here's my story...
My stomach problems first started when I was in elementary school and my father and I contracted H. Pylori from a frozen yogurt shop that had an outbreak, which will remain nameless (thanks so much, TCBY- oops).
Fast forward to June 2008. My husband and I took a cruise for our anniversary to the Caribbean and then went to New York to catch a Yankees game. What should have been a great vacation turned into a nightmare. On the second night of the cruise, I got sick (no, I didn't drink the water) - nausea, constant diarrhea, horrible gas - it was terrible. I was afraid to leave our room. It didn't get any better when we got home. I ended up in the hospital, dehydrated, but with no answers. I lost about 20 pounds (definitely a lot, especially for someone my size <I'm only 5ft>). For a couple months, I had tests run, and then finally had an answer - ulcerative colitis. Oh goody...
So now I'm on Entocort (9g) and Lialda (4.8g), and have yet to be flare-free since it began in June. However, I know that my diet probably isn't helping. I'm having problems finding the "right" foods to eat. It's definitely not easy to be a vegetarian with UC. I hate tofu. I've recently discovered TVP (like Veggie Patch), and it's great. But I love fresh fruit and vegetables and NUTS!!! I think the nuts are tearing up my insides... I don't know what to eat. :ybatty:
So that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Does anyone else have these diet problems? Any advice?

Hi welcome to the forum. I have Crohns and love to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, but most of the time I do not tolerate them. Maybe you could speak to a dietician about what you should eat. They would probably be able to help you with different ideas of what would work for your diet. Good Luck

H-Pylori is one of the bacteria that seems to keep popping up. It is often present with Crohn's and I believe it has something to do with the disease. Since it produces ulcers it likely is not going to help us any.

I treat for it, even though I have no symptoms at this time. I do not think I have completely eliminated it but it may take a while.

Dan
