newbie intro

Hi, my name is Mia. I'm 29 years old and have yet to be diagnosed but Dr suspects Crohns or Ulcer Colitis. I've been having symptoms for just about a year now and I'm really anxious to put a name to my condition. Colonoscopy is scheduled for October. Glad to find this site, your stories are so similiar to my own.

Hello Mia! Welcome to the forum. We have a section on the forum called the Undiagnosed Club, and there are many of us over there in similar situation to your own! Feel free to come chat with us there!

My symptoms have been going on for a year now too (about 14 months for me). As you can see on my siggy I have had many normal tests but they are still looking!

Keep us posted about your colonoscopy! The prep is the worst part!

Hi Mia and welcome! What symptoms are you experiencing? Have you had any testing done at this point?

A colonoscopy is a breeze. But like Allie said, the pred is tough. Did your GI tell you which one you'll be taking? The easiest in my opinion is the Miralax/Gatorade prep. You can't even taste it!

By the way, where in NJ are you from? I am a Jersey girl who moved across the river to the more affordable state of PA. I am originally from rural Monmouth, right by Six Flags.

Hi there Mia and welcome! I'm glad you found our little community :)

Your colonoscopy will be fine, it's really not a big deal though I certainly understand your anxiety as I had the same feelings! They are no biggie to me now, however. Why are they waiting until October for it though? Is that the soonest you can get in?

We do have an Undiagnosed Club you may want to check out and commiserate with the folks there.

Again, welcome :)

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

My symptoms include rectal bleeding (pretty much constant at times severe), passing mucus (neverending large amounts), diarrhea and when not pencil-like stool, pressure urge to use the bathroom (also pretty much constant), nausea, fatigue, weight loss (total 30lbs). Really anxious for a name to all of this and hopefully some relief.

Haven't got any info about the colonoscopy and never had one before. October was the earliest appointment I could get with the GI doctor. Currently without insurance and been debating another ER visit, at my worse. Just reading member posts on here surprised as to what all hasn't been done for me as far as tests (feel empowered by info).

Will check out the Undiagnosed Club, posted already in General IBD Discussion.

I have many of the same symptoms: bleeding, mucus, pencil stools, pressure.

I used to teach in East Brunswick. I like PA a lot. I am in a really great area being so near to NJ and Philly. And the taxes are much cheaper!

UPDATE: Ended up in the ER yesterday. Still no answers but on a positive note should be able to get in to see the GI within next couple weeks, need to call Monday. Also on prescription Cipro. Doctors again suspect Chrons/UC.

wow you dont get a colonoscopy til October!? that's rediculous! I dont have insurance..and I was able to get mine same day they suspected after a CAT Scan and X-rays.
