Hello everybody!

I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in August 2016 and take 3g of Pentasa daily. It has worked wonderfully up until recently, but now some of my symptoms are returning. I will see my gastroenterologist in June for an evaluation, who warned me that because Pentasa is a starter drug, it is possible that it has stopped working. Assuming that this is the case, what might come next in terms of treatment? Increase the Pentasa dosage? Start something in addition to Pentasa? Start a completely new treatment regimen?

I am studying abroad from September 2017 until December 2017, which is why this is all making me kind of nervous. I appreciate your responses!

Hello!

I had to stop taking Pentasa as it gave me horrendous headaches, and the next step for me was azathioprine. There may be something else they can do if the Pentasa needs something else to give it a boost though so I'd be interested to hear what your doctor says.

Good luck!
