It turns out that nickel can interfere with [wiki2="Zinc"]Zinc[/wiki2] absorption and of course, many Crohnies are deficient in zinc. Zinc is also a co-factor for [wiki2="Vitamin-D"]vitamin D[/wiki2] (it is the fingers at the base of the VDR) and of course just about every Crohnie is deficient in vitamin D unless they're supplementing.
