good day everyone, hubby had his colonoscopy on Thursday July 11, later in the day around 3 or so. Since then he has had no bowel movement , today Sunday July 14. Should he take a stool softener with laxative in it . He has been eating. thank you for all your help

That is not normal at all, I think you need to call the on call doctor at your practice and alert them. They may very well tell you to take a sort of prep to initiate a bowel movement but let them know what's going on.

Hi, the preps for colonoscopies can mess up your system a bit. He has had his bowel completely emptied, and will have been eating less for a couple of days. If was given pain meds or other drugs, that could slow his system down too.

If he's had no pain or other symptoms, I wouldn't worry too much at this point. Last time I had bowel surgery I didn't go for several days (not normal with my illness), but I did go eventually and nothing was wrong.

I agree with unxmas! If your really worried about it, give him prone juice. If that doesn't help get coloxyl with senna from the pharmacy. I'd personally avoid Metamucil.
Thats what I give my patients on the ward. Read up about the above signs and symptoms of a blockage but I doubt from what you've said he has one. If you suspect he does take him to your GP or local hospital. Is he passing wind?
