Erk I have been at it since early this morning and I cant stop going!! get a 5-20 minute break max...and off I go again to the potty

All liquid.. bluerg

Stopped taking the movicol, off all other meds...

Desperately want a shower, but know I will just have to go again halfway through!! .. using lashings of nappy cream

Dont know what to do..

Help!!

Get a really good book ;)

Get a shower, if its liquid it will run straight down the drain. Not hard to clean afterwards and will make u feel better having a shower

make sure you keep drinking water, you will be losing a lot. Maybe add some fruit juice and salt to replenish nutrients you have lost. Dont want to dehydrate on top of all that suffering already bud

What do you do when you cant stop going? Keep going! I've had those days and weeks where I spent more time in the bathroom than out. I suggest getting a good book and maybe a gameboy. You can shower and like said liquid will go right down the drain. I also notice my pain and urgency is reduced when I dont force but rather let gravity do the work. Feel better

I dont know why but i feel it helps to sit up straight rather than bend / squat over.

Studying like mad! Got my uni Law exams coming up in 5 weeks.. think thats what is setting me off!! Boo... wish it would stop so I could get to bed!!

yeh i know how you feel, Im doing a maths degree atm, I get stressed out over it cos of lack of help (open uni) then i get ill which makes me more stressed. Failed last year, taken a year off as i thought sod it, whats more important my health or a piece of paper. Take my time, enjoy it and see what happens :)

Nice one, will have to ask next time for me, my exams are 3hrs but i can take in the booklet of formulas (not that i ever understand them). Guessing your exam is in october sometime. Remember youve managed to get this far already, you will be fine. Dont push yourself too much as it will not help in the long run and good luck.. let me know how you get on

Thanks so much :)

If your exams in October you have until September 16th - if you already have Crohns on your student profile, just ring regional office and they can do it over the phone for you.

Trying to drink lots of water, had 2 Ensures today instead of my usual one, feeling so drained :(

Ugh... still struggling with this, already been 10 times and its only 9am

At my wits end!! our busiest week at work here + major revision to get doing..

Can I try over the counter?? - assuming I shouldnt as the gastro gave me movicol before... having codeine in the hope it will slow things down

So, (just thinking aloud) you were bunged up to the armpits and the GI gave you movicol to sort that out. Now that's done it's work, you are going rather a lot. Do I remember rightly that the GI said nothing visibly wrong?... So have you tried an anti-spasmodic, in case it's IBS? like Buscopan or Spasmonal... both available OTC.

He said it looks clear to him, the steroids done their job

Been taking Colofac or Spasmonal now for 7 weeks, still going 20+ times a day atm.. getting a bit fed up now!!

Ah, but you did have inflammation that steroids cleared up... Then it's obviously back, isn't it? No amount of immodium/codeine/etc is going to do you much good, as you saw before the movicol. You need to get back on the steroids and a proper maintenance drug for the inflammation/Crohn's/UC/etc....

Thank you

The gastro didnt believe me on my diagnosis he hasnt got any notes so he is just going on my word.
Thus he has writted to my GP

No further steroids required, just Movicol, chasing up notes from original gastro. Returning in January.

So I am pretty much stuffed till January.. got to try something.. so tired of this..dread to think how bad it would be if I did eat a meal!

I have been on Movicol for being backed up, so dont think I should use anything over the counter such as Imodium, although I am sorely tempted!!

Doctors on Monday, hope they do something until I go back to gastro

Something else I have thought of (as I was replying to someone else's message...lol) is this:

If you don't take in substantial food for your intestine to digest (ie anything solid to make it "work") - then all you are going to have is diarrhea....

I kind of think of it this way (kinda gross, but I think some of you may get the idea... VERY simply put): if you put in liquid, you are going to get liquid out... if you put in mushy food, you are going to get mushy food out... if you put in firmer food... you will get firmer output...

At least for the most part, and in people with healthy bowels... but it kind of applies here in that... if all you are takin gin is liquids... only liquids are going to come out....

Aah that makes sense, just didnt think 1 bottle of Ensure would make so much D :( guess those are off the menu too now

At a bit of a loss now!!

Docs on monday night, fingers crossed be helpful
