I haven't had a normal calprotectin result ever during a flare before but I have recently had a normal calprotectin result and I still have symptoms - what's causing them I don't know and my doctors don't know either because all my scans look good so far.
On the one hand I do believe my doctors when they say there is no sign that I currently have active disease...but on the other hand the symptoms feel a lot like a flare up of active disease.
I think it might truly be hard to distinguish at times for the patient what is active disease and what are symptoms caused by other things (complications, or the potentially real and potentially not 'IBS' that some doctors will diagnose you with along with IBD, and all those other things that you always need to rule out) since our guts have only so many ways to act up.
This isn't exactly an answer to your question, except to say that I am wondering, along similar lines, whether this might be the case for me.

yeah, we are still novice with this new tool. Only time and experience with it will tell us how precise it is for each of us I guess. I have been tested only once so far and the result is normal. I feel I am in remission too. I'll have another test next month. I am at a lower dose than before on my medication (this current dose failed before) and hoping to maintain it at this dosage without need to increase it.
I have experienced normal calprotectin levels during active symptoms, too.
The doc doesn't know what is the mechanism behind this, because biopsies have shown inflammation at the same time, too. A tricky thing to experience, because at first i was still being diagnosed and a normal calpro indicated no disease, but it still revealed afterwards during other diagnostic testing. My body seems all in all to be a tricky one being diagnosed and observed through different indicators besides endoscopy and biopsies..

I've literally just posted a similar question. I've recently had a calproctectin test, and my results came back normal - my doctor said it'll be 100% accurate - however I'm not convinced.
Another doctor has put me on Omeprazole for gastric ulcers - which if I point to where they are, they're most certainly not all in my stomach! Really pushing for an endoscopy exam, because I know something is not right.

please let us know of further development and if indeed the test was inaccurate for you. wishing you its accurate 
i just received my second Cp result at 57. Gi thinks nothing to worry. im not 100% secure as my BM are not to my entire satisfaction. Ive decided to add rectal 5-asa therapy to favor maintain of remission.
