Hi,

Over the past 6-12 months I've been noticing partial numbness along outer edges of my feet, near the toes. Gradually this numbness has spread to all toes, and sometimes there's a burning sensation from the outside of the small toe.

I didn't think it could be related to Crohn's until recently, when someone told me that such numbness can result from a B-12 deficiency, which reminded me that I've seen people on this forum mention that they take a B-12 supplement.

Any experiences with numbness in feet?

Thanks!
Chap

Hi chap... don't know how to make links to another thread, but there is a thread called Peripheral Neuropathy and Crohns... try the search function at the top of the page. That has more or less what I want to say on the subject... but any more questions and get back on here.

Any numbness in your feet and the doc should test you for B12 deficiency and diabetes first... that's what happened to me. If that draws a blank you may have peripheral neuropathy, which is what I've got. To be honest, the onset sounds a bit faster than mine and a little bit different, best to see a doc and get the B12 test... that will help to put your mind at rest

Read through that (it's short) and ask your doc to get some blood work done.

Perhaps get tested for diabetes as well.

Here's the thread that Agent talked about:

Gastroenterologist said B-12 deficiency extremely unlikely, as I have not had a re-section. Thanks for the various links - will read and then schedule appointment with my GP.
