Oh My Goodness I Can't Stop Eating. Not on Steroids?

I can't stop eating and I cant figure out what's influencing my increased appetite. I am currently recovering from a bad flare up and a extended hospital stay. Now that I'm feeling a bit better I noticed that my appetite and bathroom visits increased 10 times more. Im currently taking Humira and methotrexate. But no steroids. What's the deal?

Hi, welcome to the forum. You mentioned you're recovering from a flare, so it may just be due to that. In a flare you're likely not able to eat the amount of calories you need, plus you may also not be absorbing all the calories and nutrients from your food due to the inflammation and diarrhea, so in total you're getting far fewer calories than your body needs to function properly. Now that the flare is ebbing, it could just be that your body is trying to make up for that calorie deficit by being extremely hungry all the time! Once things "catch up" then hopefully everything will normalize as far as your appetite goes.

I agree with Cat, you're body is prob desperate for nutrients and to rebuild. I think it's a good sign! Hopefully you'll get what you need and it will normalize soon.
