I thought these may be of interest to anyone that is in the prevention mode.

Combined supplements of vitamin D and calcium are effective for increasing the bone mineral density of post-menopausal women, even when calcium intakes are adequate. That’s what researchers in Finland found recently.

Low levels of folic acid (folate) may be associated with age-related hearing loss, according to a new study published in the journal Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery.

Ginger and disease

Another little blurb about Ginger.

Numerous studies indicate that ginger may be helpful for arthritis, digestive disorders, nausea, and migraine headaches. Ginger contains dozens of the most potent inflammation fighting substances known, phytonutrients called gingerols. The ability for a food to help reduce inflammation is important, because inflammation contributes to many chronic conditions such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

I find ginger to be essential to my healthcare and use it in my cooking almost daily. On days when I'm bloated, simmering ginger root and making tea soothes my bloating and stomach ache issues almost immediately.

I use drops of concentrated ginger oil in a bottle of olive oil and rub it on my joints---I've only started using it recently, but I'm hoping it will have some effect on the pain I feel in my knees and wrists.

Thanks for the links!

I fully agree with ginger, I was using Gingerforce gels and is 250 times more potent than raw ginger, I have been using it for a few months and then ran out and ordered more but the order didnt work so now I have to go back to the health food store, yeah it is $27.00 a bottle for 30 but I have had the best Christmas in so many years!!! Now I have been without it for 2 weeks and finding the symptoms slowly coming back. Thanks for posting this Dan!

Hi Dan,
You are so insightful and helpful. Thanks for all the great information you pass on. Happy New Year!

I just rely the information. Other more intelligent people make the discoveries.

Ginger is something of a miracle herb. I have a book on all of its uses. A book on one plant!
