Does anyone recommend any OTC cream for joint pains? I can't use the ice packs because all my joints are so painful. I haven't been diagnosed with arthritis yet and it may just be pain from being inflamed but its so severe that I suspect something else is going on. I can barely walk!

I find voltarol works ok it won't get rid of all the pain but it will help a bit. I use it on my joints and it helps ease it slightly until the pain is more manageable. I'm sorry you are struggling to walk it really does make it much more difficult when dealing with everything you already are having. Have you tried any heat patches or hot water bottles on your joints to see if that eases it at all? x

Looks like that's a prescription here but also an NSAID. I know those with IBD need to avoid that and even a cream does seek into the sink. I haven't done the patches because I'd need them for all over.

Didn't realise its prescription in US. I found even though its an NSAID it didn't affect my crohns but it may not be the case for everyone as you said. I didn't know if it would be the same if its applied to the skin instead of tablets but its hard to find anything about it.
I got to the point where I took ibuprofen because I got desperate it made my stomach bad but the joint pain was so much more painful at that point but I wouldn't advise it.

Please don't take NSAIDS especially Volterol, had a GP prescribe this, I have Crohns and also Seron Negative Polyarthralgia, which is a form of Rheumatoid arthritis without the RH factor, very very painful, I could not walk, could not lift anything even a spoon when mine flares,I also had a Rheumatologist who prescribed me Salazapyrin which was killing my liver and Rofecoxib which destroyed my gullet so bad I had to have surgery on it.So be very careful, they now usually put me on Prednisolone for a few months and weaned off slowly to get the joints back under control.

I've found relieve with Icy Hot or Bengay Ultra Strength. Also Pro Emu Muscle and Joint Cream has natural anti-inflammatory supplements in it that don't interfere with the bowel. I've also had good success with oral bromelain, chicken collagen and MSM. Sending gentle hugs your way!

Bengay does nothing for me except get everyone in my house to hate me. I did but an emu/MSM shellfish cream and it helps a tad.

I'm sorry, I wish I could be more helpful. As you know, until the underlying inflammation subsides, there is little topically that will do more than make you a bit more comfortable.

A full body heating pad helps me the most, as does soaking in Epsom salts and hot water as often as I can. I know what you mean about the Bengay-my hubby never complains but the cat hisses at me when I wear it! :rof:
