Back in April I had a lump emerge at my bottom. Not haemmorroids, but my doctor was unsure what this lump was, it was extremely painful. After a week or so the lump disappeared but I started getting bleeding after bm. Pain in my lower back got more intense so my crohns consultant sent me for an MRI. This showed lumbar spondylitis and fibroids. Whilst on holiday in June I had crippling lower abdomen pains and an awful lot of bleeding from anus. I recently have had more pain and constant bleeding from anus and vagina. Could this be a fistula? I had a fistula back in 2015, but not connected to vagina. I am also having trouble going to toilet, not constipated but passing small amounts 5-7 times a day. Any advice would be appreciated. I am so scared as to what this could be. fistula? or maybe stricture? Help!!!

Hi scoobs,
I think you need to ask for a referral for a second opinion with another crohn's or IBD specialist. It sounds like an abscess or a fistula to me, stricture is also another possibility. I would try to get in to see somebody as soon as you can. I have had abscesses and fistulas before and they are best dealt with quickly. I could have saved myself a lot of trouble by going to the doctor sooner. Be sure to ask for blood work to be done, my white blood cells were through the roof with an abscess and I wasn't even feverish. A gynecologist appointment may be a good place to start as well considering it involves your vagina.

I really would try to get in soon, a lot of damage can happen inside you very quickly without many worsening symptoms. See if there are cancellations, I would keep phoning them if it were me. You need, and deserve some help for whatever is going on.

Had an Mri of rectum, anal etc. had sigonoscopy which showed multiple fissures and tears in bowel. Awaiting mri results. In so much pain don't know what to do with myself. Hurts so much to sit down. If mri scan comes back as inconclusive don't know how I will react, as pain is real and not in my head. Been put back on steroids and mercaptopurine and pentasa. This is pure hell.

That sounds painful. I had similar problems years ago and I still remember the pain. I'm sorry you have to go through this kind of illness. I got better eventually and I hope you do too. Demerol 50 mg tablets helped with my pain and Lidocaine jelly 2% applied to the affected area helped to numb things, especially before examinations or using the toilet. You can put it inside if needed, you may want to ask about it.

I also just wanted to mention that I was put on a stool softener called Lactulose and it really helped me. The other thing is be sure not to take any NSAID'S as it will make matters worse. You might have to look up the term NSAID as there are quite a few OTC pain relievers on the market that fall under this umbrella.

That sounds similar to the lidocaine jelly, it works for a few hours as well. I hope the steroids help soon too, hang in there.
