For several years, on and off, I'll go days with out going to the bath room and after days I would get full from stem to stern and I would get bloated and nausea. Well for the last month and a half it's been happening once a week. Sometimes I can control it but eating earlier and drinking a glass of prune juice and working out. Last week I landed in the ER because nothing I did helped. Blood work was Normal and x rays showed I was litterally packed. Got cleaned out and started using portion control and so far it's been helping. Only side effect to my stool softeners is the gas and slight cramping. I haw lost about 15 lbs in 2 months but I also have been trying to lose weight so so it might be my doet

But no other symptoms. No fevers, no blood or anything of the sort. I know someone with Crohn's and all these terms keep getting thrown at me and makes me nervous.

Could I be over reacting?::

It really could be lots of things. I only go to the bathroom once a week and when I do it is painful and lasts most of the day. My doctor is pretty sure I have Crohn's. But my daughter was having similar problems and hers is constipation. Her body stopped recognizing the need to go. She takes Mirilax regularly and is feeling great.

Try not to panic. But if the solution the doctors give you doesn't make you feel better, make sure they know. Don't accept an answer you know is wrong.

That k you. I guess the clean blood work and the xrays make me feel a bit better. Also dealing with this for the last 4 years and not taking meds eases my mind a bit. I honestly think its not crohns anymore but some pretty bad IBS as I don't have any other symptoms other than constipation

It's possible it could be Crohn's, but your symptoms are not at all typical of Crohn's. There are many other causes of digestive problems, and many which would more closely align with your symptoms than Crohn's does.

Have you seen a doctor for advice on treating the constipation at all? There are many medications that could help if you've not tried much yet. If it's getting worse and interfering with your life you might consider going through more tests to try to find the cause.

I did see my doc and the intern said it could be IBS. I'm going to start taking digestive advantage along with my activia. I have how ever had bowel movements the last 3 days and no uncomfortable feelings. Kinda hard to see it being crohns now after researching the symptoms
