DS has alot of peeling skin (flaky itchy) between his fingers. :(
He sees dermo on Monday thankfully.
This has happened before but it is getting worse.

Anyone else have this?
If so from what?
Thanks! :)

Has he had a recent infection/virus ?

There's been a few times after Gab got sick with strep, or some other virus/cold thingy, that her hands and feet would peel for a bit afterwards.

Just a thought ...
Hope you figure it out and it's nothing too serious! :)

Devynn lost all the skin off the bottom of her feet twice when she was flaring. It looked like water blisters and then it sloughed off. The bottom of her feet/toes looked like raw hamburger :( It was awful. She ended up missing school because she couldn't walk. I was told it was a crohn's thing. Funny, she ended up being diagnosed with UC.

FWIW, my toes do that when I have athlete's foot (a fungal infection). I've also seen it in kids as a form of eczema when they are sick, but when I saw it, it was finger tips that would peel. I wouldn't be surprised if it is a form of eczema that comes out with flares of the IBD... Let us know what you figure out...

Nothing like that here mlp.

I hope the dermatologist is able to work it out for you and your lad gets some lasting relief.

Dusty. xxx

Hmm...just O's psoriasis does that but more because she is in the water so much it softens the skin and it peels.

I am so anxious to hear what your derm says...if I am this anxious I can only imagine how you must be feeling.

Every summer the bottom of Ella's feet peel off, it looks like a snake shedding its skin. It's not sore but very strange. To be honest I thought it was being in the sun and pool when we were on holiday. Now I'm not so sure. Sorry I can't be any help x

MLP, I'm glad it is gone already, but sometimes it is better if symptoms would be more helpful by being present when we see those expensive specialists!

How on earth did that happen? I posted a reply talking about my Ella, so how did it come up under my little penguin? !!!!

:yfrown:That's it Stephyjane, stop trying to steal MLP identity!:ylol:

We all want to be her, but their is only one MLP.:rosette2:

That is freaky. And it says its yesterday's post.
I suppose I'll just have to stick to being me. I have no idea how it happened :shifty-t: x

Yep, have seen it happen bfr too...

Hope you get an answer tmrw but glad its gotten better!!

Hmmm.... CIC
He was just in the pool yesterday.
Gone today .....
Glad I got pics for the dermo :)

it can be a reaction to the pool chemicals ( I would check the levels of all chemicals in your pool). Or, if the pool chemicals arent doing their job and there is a high bacterial count in the pool he may have an infection.

Couple of pool tips regarding chlorine that might help. Always "shock" the pool in the evening because the UV rays will degrade the chlorine too quickly for it to work. Also, you might have a low level of pool conditioner (this stabilizes the chlorine). If you are adding pool conditioner, it is best to put the granular kind in an old pair of pantyhose tied up at one end and then place it in the skimmer. The conditioner will gradually dissolve and enter the water system. If you do not do this gradually, the granules can get caught in your filter and be lost if you backwash too soon. My pool guy taught me that trick.... I kept adding Conditioner and it was testing at a zero level (so was my chlorine). The pantyhose did the trick and I was back to having a healthy pool. :)
I hope he feels better. :)

Thanks
Not pool related. Since it happened again without swimming .He swims competitvely so different pools all the time.
His skin started peeling again on his left hand .
It involved more fingers this time about a week after his remicade infusion.
It self resolves within a day or two.
I am going to track how far out from the infusion the first two events were.

I just noticed today that the skin under my wedding rings is all peeling off, along with the skin between those fingers and between my middle and pointer(no ring). I do remember last summer (right before I got really sick) that the skin under my ring would turn bright red, and burn, and then eventually heal after taking rings off and then all peel off. I have been wearing one of the rings for over 5 years and the other 2.5, so it's not the rings per say, as it only happened last summer.

Before I got DX with crohns I suffered terribly with peeling skins, itching and little water blisters on my hands and feet that I assumed were warts for a very long time. My nurse explained to me that sometimes those with IBD can get a type of eczema called pompholyx (also called dyshidrotic eczema).

For me it comes and goes, tends to get worse on my toes during a flare up...it tends to disappear again just as quickly. Right now I'm having some peeling and red spots on my face.....I use a product from 'Lush' called 'Dream Cream', it costs around £8 for a tub and I slather it on before I go to bed and voila! no more peeling or itching :)

Derm told us for DS it was from remicade.
He has had two reactions to remicade so far.
No more remicade due to the allergic reactions other than just skin ;).
His derm did give us prescription cremes to help alleviate the skin peeling and other rashes he has.
He officially has atopic dermatitis and drug reaction.
