Pill Cam Endoscopically placed?

I am booked in for the pill cam test, tried today to swallow the patentcy capsule but couldn't do it, pathetic I know..

I am going back tomorrow for once last go at swallowing it and if I can't then tomorrow morning they are going to place it endoscopically.

I wondered if anyone had any advice on swallowing the capsule?

Or had any experience of having the capsule placed endoscopically and what it will entail?

Hi Anna, easier to swallow if you pop you chin down towards your chest. If you can't, then they do a normal endoscopy and put the capsule into the small bowel. Good luck with the swallow!

Has anyone actually had to have it placed endoscopically? Very nervous about it..

Thought I would update on how things went.

Had the patency capsule placed endoscopically under sedation as couldn't swallow the pill. Tried to have it placed without sedation but freaked out a little so they sedated me!!!

Went for the Patency scan today but capsule was still in there so went for CT Scan. Waiting for Doctor to ring me with the results as to where the capsule is and if it is stuck, to see if I can go ahead with the real pillcam...

This pill cam test isn't seeming as straight forward as it sounded... ((

Thought I would quickly update on how things ended up with the pillcam. They phoned straight away to say the capsule wasn't stuck so I had the real one placed endoscopically this time. With sedation which made it very easy. Camera stayed stuck in my stomach for a couple of hours but then everything was dead easy. Just had to return the equipment 10 hrs later.

If anyone else has the camera placed endoscopically I would 100% recommend sedation, made it so much easier....
