Hi

For those of us who cannot handle solid foods I take it you are either on an elemental_diet where everything is predigested or a liquid diet where nutrients still need to be digested. I just wanted to know what products you are taking and if you have found them to be effective.

1. Is the modulen everybody keeps talking about the one in the yellow container from nestle and is it completely predigested or not?
2. Is their a completely predigested standard elemental _diet product for people who cannot break down solid and liquid nutrients at all, ideally i'm looking for something in the uk.
3. Has anybody used absorbplus, what are your experiences with this or is it just people exploiting our poor health?

Is there anything else you can recommend. Ideally I'm interested in completely predigested with little to no sugar.

Thanks

I have tried modulen and elemental 028. I think they say elemental is pre-digested but modulen is partially digested.

I found modulen didn't help my crohn's at all. It reduced the severity of abdominal pain but the pain was more frequent. Lots of people cope well with it though. I tried it because it tasted the least bad of the two,

I'm now using elemental 028 extra. This is better for me but doesn't taste as nice.

The problem i have with both is the amount of sugar in them. My body seems to crave fresh food that isn't sweet.

I'm planning on starting juicing. I think i might combine the elemental and the juicing and see what happens. I daren't do a full raw food juice diet as i might lose even more weight.

Good luck with the route you choose to go down. I'm always interested to hear how people find these diets.

Hi Chlorinated,
Welcome to the forum. You might find more info about this topic on the 'enteral nutrition' section of the 'treatment' sub-forum.

I used VivonexPlus, but I live in Canada, not the UK.

Any partially digested formula is going to contain some form of sugar as that is what carbohydrates break down into in their simplest form.

Good luck with your choice.

This is the enteral nutritional drink I used to buy - called Peptamen 1.5 (1.5 for extra calories). It is calorically dense to address nutritional needs in smaller volume and has balanced peptide profile promotes GI absorption and integrity.

I bought this in the US - not sure if it is available in the UK, or if you have a similar product - perhaps print out the attached, and take to a diet specialist.
