Pred when will I feel better.

I have so much I want to say but I'm on my phone and typing on here is a disaster lol.

I mainly wanted to moan about the people in my life but I also wanted some reassurance this will get better rather than worse lol.
I was put on a 9 day taper of pred for general flare woes. Fatigue joint back pain low inflammation in bloods etc.
The days on the pred caused bad constipation. So I got to the end of the taper and had to stay again so right now still on 40mg and have been around a week now plus had the 9 day taperm
My doctor also put me on antibiotics for a week as I didn't have a bm for 10 days despite efforts to go.

my stomach hurts more now (I think I'm constipated again is been 5 days tomorrow again!) Back hurts joints I can't sleep cos of the steroids but im exhausted when will things improve?

Hi Novice. Didn't want you to think nobody was listening. I know some of the moderators will get on here before long.

Just wanted to let you know that I feel your pain and really wish I had a good answer for you.

I read on here about people that feel miraculously better on prednisone within a few days then I read others that get no relief. (like me) from the drug.

You didn't say what your diagnosis is on your post. What do you have? Are they giving you anything for the constipation? Must be miserable. Afraid I would have done or taken things myself before this long. Couldnt handle that! Of course lots of diarrhea is my issue, and I think the most common, but we still DO get constipation also.

If the prednisone doesn't work before long, I'd sure be asking for something else, but that's just me. I mean how long do you wait?

thanks for you reply traumanurse. Sorry I didnt post in more detail, i was so tired last night but really felt the need to vent somewhere about feeling poop.

This disease sucks, i suffer both the horrible diarrhea and constipation, just depends on my bowels that month lol. Usually have one followed by the other its rarely normal but have learnt to live with it! I have a whole bunch of stuff that i try when the constipation sets in, i usually start with senna and i have sachets of fybogel laxido and movicol and i recently bought miralax. i had tried a combo of the lot, the dr then told me to double up the miralax and a few days later i managed to go, but again today im back at day 5, im going to try doubling up the miralax again but i was worried taking the antibiotics was going to cause D. my stomach feels delicate like i should be going constantly but im not lol

When the doc first put me on the 9 day taper of pred i felt good in a couple of days, so now im confused if i feel better, if that makes sense. Or whether it is actually the pred that is making me feel horrible or my crohns hah. the only good thing the pred has done is given me an appetite despite great nausea lol. I dunno i always forget whats normal for being ill whats normal for medication etc

Anyway thanks again for your reply guess its just the way it goes with this disease and if im still confused all i can do is call the nurse. Unfortunately my doc has gone to england (sods law cos thats where im from) for two weeks so will have to shuffle between the other doctor and the nurses but they all seem nice enough.
