Hi!! I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, and was put on many medications.
-Carafate, Apriso, Remicade, Prednisone and Zantac.
I normally take 40 mgs of Prednisone a day, but my GI is tapering me off, THANK GOODNESS. I am now on 30 mgs a day, but I see the affects of Prednisone now... I used to weigh 97 pounds and now, I weigh 107 pounds.. I am looking swollen in my stomach area, and my face is swollen, but not that bad. I do eat, but I stay healthy and I don't satisfy my prednisone hunger cravings. Just a question for all the prednisone users-- Does the weight gain go away AFTER you are off of Prednisone? This is like an awful drug. Any advice on how to lose this weight? Thank you!!

As a glucocorticoid Prednisone causes the body to retain more water, if it is simply water weight the body will shed it after your taper ends. If the weight gain is from eating more then you're going to need engage in a little classic weight loss.

If you lost weight from Crohn's, any effective treatment will cause real weight gain too. Not sure from your post if you had lost weight before but 97 lbs doesn't sound like much.

Do you know your BMI? Unless you are pretty short 97 lbs is very thin - perhaps too thin.

And as the previous person said, you may lose the weight once you finish weaning.

If she's five feet on the nose it's not underweight, otherwise it is.
