Hey,

I've got to prep tomorrow for my third colonoscopy. What do you guys "eat" and drink to get through the day? I'm planning on keeping these supplies around:
  • Jello
  • Chicken Broth
  • Sprite
Any other edible suggestions? These prep days are always the hardest part of getting scoped.

The worst part is, I have to finish up my thesis and catch up on other homework this weekend as well. I've been sick the past month or so and school is starting to wrap up for the semester. Thankfully, graduation is one week from today and I'm walking!

I typically don't eat, too busy responding to the prep... And since my typical prep is the gallon of go-lytely, I don't feel much like drinking anything much either. But, I do know that the hospital instructions I received for scope procedures allowed for a little, flat ginger ale... Normally, I avoid carbonated beverages because of the gas and pain it causes me... and carbonated beverages can increase appetites.. (bloats the stomach but it remains empty)..
But I've found that 'flat' ginger ale with plenty of ice is something my body can tolerate on occasion. Otherwise, I stick to decaffeinated ice tea, w/o sugar as a cold drink. Or lemonade made with honey as a sweetener. That's about it..

Yeah, Flat Ginger Ale is all I drank besides water. I went on a liquid diet a little earlier than the instructions say. Then if I can't stomach any more water, I can skip some and the outcome is still the same.

Third Colonoscopy! Why so many?

Well my first scope was my diagnosis. My second scope was performed by the same doctor because my Crohn's was getting worse and he wanted to see just how bad. The last one was about two years ago. I moved out of the area for graduate school so I had to switch doctors. I've been fairly sick the past month and complained to my doctor a lot so she wants to scope me since it's been about two years.

I'm not really sure what to expect. I have been feeling so run down lately, I thought it was anemia but my blood work is fine. I think it's a combination of my medication (Imuran), a flare up and passing contagious sicknesses around between my girlfriend and I. I have a feeling that no matter what my doctor sees, I'll be staying on the Imuran. I'm not too excited about this option, to be honest.

in my nearing 8 years of being diagnosed, I've had at least 10.
my first 3 were done when I was misdiagnosed, and about 4 others over a year were done when I kept getting sick and we couldn't figure out why.
the rest have just been here and there and I should be having another coming sometime here in the new year.

I had my first surgery in 99 , i've lost count on how many i've had. My GI doctor even makes fun of me.
