I am on mercaptopurine, a.k.a 6-mp (one 50mg pill a day), for crohn's. I have been on it for about 10 months. I have to call my doctor every three months to get it refilled. I forgot to call him this time and I am out of pills. How bad would it be to wait until monday to call him for the refill? I would be missing two doses, since I take it in the evening. If I shouldn't wait, does anyone have any suggestions what I should do? I just called the pharmacy and they are closed now, so I will be missing one dose no matter what.

Welcome to the forum!

Considering 6MP has a long half life i.e it takes a while to get into and out of your system you should be ok until Monday but it is very important you sort it out then.

It relies on consistency of dose to maintain the equilibrium so not a good thing to forget to do! Try and make a note somewhere you wont miss about a week before you need your next refill so you dont get caught out again.

Glad you found us here. Perhaps you would like to tell us a bit about yourself, diagnosed when and with what IBD and any treatments etc you are on.
