protein supplements..??

Has anyone tried any of the whey protein powders ..? am thinking of trying them.... ''body fortress''* ..... to add protein to my diet and to put on a bit of weight...... just wondering if anyone had managed to successfully take these powders before i inflict it on my poor intestines..... also has anyone tried taking the protein powders with creatine in them to give energy..??

When I was able to lift weights in my bodybuilding days a few months ago, I intook a great amount of protein and a good portion of Whey shakes, I did fine with them in remission, but I know they give me "D" if I have one now....I used Isopure most recently since it's lactose free and intended for lactose intollerance...it still gave me some D I believe because it's still dairy and is so easily digested (meaning it shoots right through)...you'll have to use trial and error unfortunately to gauge it. As far as putting on weight, calories AND protein will be the answer to that, just whey alone isn't as much of a help, as whey is actually a low calorie food, since it's so lean.

Yea like the guy above said you should use trial and error. A few years back when I worked out and drank protein afterwards, it would go straight through me. Now not so much. Also try it with both water and milk and see which works best for you. Make sure you also mix it very well becase that could have been my problem in the past.

Also body fortress is what I am using now and it tastes horrible. If you are getting protein from walmart like me get the six star it tastes much better.

mmm

Your right of course.... thanks for advice..... will have to trial it and see..... wont be with milk though ... lil tum cant take milk... will have to be water....

That's good, but beware that some protein shakes can be quite unpleasant with just water, as milk can often give a "milkshake" taste and some were intended to be made with milk for their taste, thus water will give an awkward flavor. What helps is mixing it with something else but not milk, like Gatorade or Kool-Aid or apple juice...gives a vanilla flavored powder a fruity kick.

Yep

I know what u mean .... but been taking up to 3 sachets of qusetran a day for 13 years seem to have given me the ability to drink anything that tastes like crap...... just takin the first dose ..... feel fine.... mind you ... its only been a minute and a half..... fingers crossed.... thanks for advice....

I found this rice protein powder which is supposedly 80% protein that really helps calm my digestion quite a bit, I find that protein agrees with my crohn's very well, I can eat pounds and pounds of meat (chicken/fish/beef etc..) and have 0 problems.

My diet is super restrictive (helps me stay off steroids and other strong meds) where I only really eat 2 things rice and meat (with salt) and drink only water anything else and I'm in pain. So when i found that rice protein power which is 100% rice no other ingredients it was great. It does come in other flavors other than plain though. It's called NutriBiotic Rice Protein Powder (the plain flavor is called vegan i think).

Another 100% rice product I found that really is great for having more energy is this stabilized rice bran stuff sold by nutracea, it not so cheap though, but even my mother who has liver disease and has chronic fatigue problems swears by this powder for giving her energy. It's called risolubles, here is a link to the site where i get it from.

i drink Weight Gainer from GNC with Milk and i'm fine. I use the Powder Mixer Cup to make sure it's mixed right. I need to gain weight/mass , so adding this helps

Try it and see what happens.

If you can drink juice (pineapple is good) then maybe consider mixing it with pasteurized egg whites commonly sold in most grocery stores. The only ingredients are egg whites and eggs are one of the highest quality proteins. The drink doesnt really taste very eggy IMO...can blend up some fruit and ice with it too. Since they pasteurize em you cant get salmonella as they advertise it is intended to be mixed into protein drinks on the side of the carton. Goodluck.
