As I posted in my other thread(about the Humira antibodies) my daughter finally got her first dose of Entyvio today. The doctor didn't pre-medicate like he usually does so no steroid (she's already on prednisone anyway) or Benedryl through the iv, only Entyvio. She has been asleep since 4 this afternoon and it's now 8 and she just woke up but says she's still real sleepy. I know these types of drugs can make them tired but neither Remicade or Humira did this. They made her a little tired but nothing like this. Just curious as to what others experienced with Entyvio.

I'll tag Kimmidwife, her daughter has been on Entyvio.

Both my daughters used to get really tired after Remicade infusions. They were pre-medicated, but only with oral Benadryl and Tylenol. I am not sure if it was the Benadryl that exhausted them or the Remicade, but they were always really tired the day of the infusion and sometimes the day after.

After that, they felt fine.

Since it's only her first dose, hopefully she will get used to it after a couple more infusions. My younger daughter is going to start Entyvio too soon, so I'll you know how she does with her first infusion (whenever insurance decides to approve it).

Ds only had Zyrtec and Tylenol with his remicade
But still would sleep at the infusion and then the rest of the day
We would schedule in the morning just so he had the day to rest
Next day was fine

He only gets a little tired with humira now
But it's been 5years

Good luck

Thanks for the reply Maya. I guess I'm concerned because Emily was premedicated with Remicade and she was nothing like this. This time she wasn't premedicated and is more tired. She's up now though, just lounging in the recliner. I'm hoping it will get better with each injection.

I'm sorry about your insurance. I'm thankful that mine is pretty fast in approving things but the pharmacy didn't get the memo lol.

We scheduled infusions on Fridays when my daughters were on Remicade. That helped because they had time to just rest after the infusion.

Hopefully next time will be a bit easier for her.

How long was the infusion? We were told about an hour - is that right? It seems so quick compared to Remicade.

Thank you mlp. We finished up with her infusion at noon so hopefully she will be perked up by tomorrow. Like I said the Remicade made her tired but not like this and the Humira really didn't phase her (we gave it to her at bedtime and she woke up fine).

Maya, we were there 2 1/2 hours. They ran an iv and done paperwork (an hour) the infusion took an hour and then they monitored her for 30 minutes. It was way quicker than Remicade.

Just an update. Em was as spry as a spring chicken today so I guess I know to look for extreme tiredness on day 1.
