So I was diagnosed with Chrones last week....YAY FOR ME!! :((( So since then, I've been researching different websites trying to figure out exactly what this all means. I have a follow up appointment with my GI on Friday I'm assuming so she can tell me exactly how life-altering this disease may be for me (as if I already can't tell!!). When I saw the pictures of my colonoscopy and upper GI last week, well, it looks like my insides have been through a meat grinder!! I almost wish I didn't know exactly what it looks like in there, but then again, knowing in this case is better than not knowing. What I am struggling with now (besides EATING!!) is trying to find FOODS that I CAN eat! I've already cut out all dairy. Some people say no wheat, gluten, or sugar of ANY kind. And my GI mentioned that ruffage for me is like sandpaper going through my system so to avoid that. So, my question to any of you folks that have more experience with this fantabulous disease is: WHAT DO I EAATT?!?!?!? Thanks so much for your time and I look forward to hearing from any of you!!
Hungry in Vancouver....:D

goog a crohn's white diet, surprised the GI did not give u a reference sheet when diagnosed.
Everyone is different, let us know how you make out and what symptoms and problems persist. Good luck and good health.

:welcome: Monty2mom,there is a wealth of information here, as mentioned we are all different in the disease, meds, and diet. No two are exactly the same. As for diet, the Brat diet if you have loose bowels (bananas, rice, applesauce and toast) if you have a tendency to constipate low residue diet, which is on our forum. Wheat makes you bloat as well as dairy. Eat slow, chew your food well and avoid hard to digest foods, like raw veggies, nuts and chewy meat. Try not to drink and eat at the same time, this can cause gas.

Most people do a diary of what they eat and add as they go. I can tolerate Oatmeal whilst others can't. I use stevia instead of sugar. Avoid nsaids, and Ibuprophen and asprin.

Has your doctor mentioned medications for you? The idea now is to hit it hard but all Gi's have their own opinion. I also saw a nutritionist who knew more than the doctors knew about digestives diseases.

I see you are in Canada, you are lucky to get a Gi so quick. Hope you join us and ask away, it is why we are here!

Baby steps. xx

Hello and welcome to the forum :bigwave: Everyone is different with whay they can and can't eat but Pen has mentioned the key culprits for what causes issues for most of us. Keeping a food diary is definetly the way to go. Perhaps when you see your GI on Friday ask if you can have referral to a dietician so you can have a thorough look into this side of things. Also one of our members Misty (aka terriernut) also made a very good suggestion on another thread yesterday, start writing a list of all the questions you have running through your head about your diagnosis and how things should proceed treatment wise. There is soo much I forget to ask my GI doc when I go to see him so I am going to start doing this. Do not leave your appt until you are happy that you have all the info you need. I hope it goes well and let us know how you get on.
