Hi all, this forum seems to be a wonderful place to get info, reassurance and support. I've had Crohn's since 1998 (had a right hemicolectomy) but have not until recently had insurance so I just let it go....Thank goodness for my recent luck at getting insurance as I've been in the ER/ hospital twice within the past few months (where the Dr's looked at me as if I were nuts for dealing with this disease for 12 years unchecked). Im on Budesonide now..mixed feelings about it. Anyone else here had a hemicolectomy?

I havent had a hemicolectomy but I have had a q4lower resection. So wonderful that you now have ins to be able to better manage your symptoms. We are so happy to have you and happy to help you through anything that we can. I am in the hospital for some very minor symptoms right now and just having all of the wonderful people on this forum has made the days in the hospital much easier to deal with

Hi 4peace and :welcome:

I'm glad you have found your way here. What has been going on that you ended up in the ER? I haven't had a hemicolectomy but my daughter has and she has been in remission since that time which is 4 years ago. This is a fab place with loads of friendly peeps, support and info. Stick around and browse through the forums and any questions just fire away. Welcome aboard!

Take care, :)
Dusty

PS @ joe. What is a q4lower??

Welcome 4peace!! I don't know anything about your surgery but am glad you are now on track to manage your disease. Good luck!!

I have had 2 resections in the terminal Ileum, and the laproscopic procedure is alot less invasive. There is a young person who was on here with her mom but she lived on Ensues, til she had had the Hemicollectomy...she is doing amazing and is back to school already. Welcome to the forum, lots of great people here who understand what you are going through!

apparently they cut out 4 sections in the terminal ileum along with the appendix and one section in the large intestines. That is what the surgeons notes said and I asked him what it meant and thats the explaination he gave me
