I wasn't sure whether to place this thread in Treatment or in Diet, Fitness, and Supplements, so forgive me if this is wrongly posted.

I'm taking Humira weekly (my doctor upped it recently from every 2 weeks due to a minor flare), 5mg pred and LDN. I was wondering what we all thought about Reishi (Lingzhi in Chinese) mushroom, as treatment? It is said to have been used as early as 475 BC in Chinese medicine autoimmune regulating capabilities as well as tumour prevention and anti-inflammatory properties, among others.

This source says it boosts the immune system (as opposed to regulating it): http://www.naturalnews.com/021498.html

I am not sure I want to be boosting my immune system while on Humira? Does anybody have any experience with this type of mushroom?

Yes... many mushrooms do boost the immune system. There are mineral supplement pills sold by many companies that include this kind of mushroom with the intent to boost. I myself used to take them (before IBD dx) whenever I had a cold or something.

I wouldn't take anything to boost my immune system since I'm on 6MP. That would be counterproductive. At most I'll have vitamin C around flu and cold season.
