Hi all I just wondered if any of you have gone back and forth between Remicade and Humira? I was origanlly on Remicade for a fistula but then switched to Humira for the convenience of it. While I was on the Remicade my surgon believed that the fistula was healing. After switching I noticed the fistula drainin for the first time in over a year. I spoke with my GI about it and she said that I needed to see my surgon. The surgon said that it's normal for them to drain a little since they are always infected. She suggested doing another seton (I had one done before I started the remicade to begin with) and then doing the surgery to hopefully finally close it. I told her that I wanted to think about it which ended up being a good thing because I found out 2 weeks later that I was 8 weeks pregnant! I stayed on the Humira until this past August because I was supposed to be switching back to Remicade. In November my GI FINALLY submitted the orders for the Remicade again. About a week after that fist infusion I developed a fever and horrible pain in my hands and arms. my DR and the GI both said that it was just a virus. My GI canceled all of the rest of my appointments because I had had this virus. She finally re-submitted the paperwork in January but I couldn't get my IV done because my BP was elevated. She didn't re-schedule she just told me to go in March when my next appointment was. Well that was supposed to be this past Friday but she canceled it since I had had an ear infection the week before. So now that you know the back story have any of you gone back and forth between the two or know anyone who has? I have since found out that the "virus" that they all said I had was actually probably my body fighting off the remicade and that I have probably developed anti-bodies to it. I have heard that this can happen but then what about going back to Humira? I am going to see a new GI in 2 weeks and hopefully I'll get on some sort of treatment. I am so over this fistula. Everyone acted like it was no big deal in the beginning but now here we are 3 years later and I'm still dealing with it. Oh yes and when she switched me to the humira she never did the 6 starter doses and she won't schedule me for the 3 starter doses of the remicade she says that I don't need it again. But after ALL this time I would think that it was necessary.
