So when I go to see my GI doctor hopefully soon, he wants to get me on some new medication.
Possibly rem. or hum.
I'm thinking of going for humira but I wanted to know if humira stops working, can I still take rem?
Is remicade better than humira? To be honest, I don't really feel like going to the hospital each time to get my shots. I also heard it takes 2-3 hours getting the IV. While Humira is quite convenient and you can take it at home. Also Humira has financial aid for people who have trouble buying their prescriptions. Is this the same for remicade?

There is a program called RemiStart. I don't mind the infusions, it's only once every six weeks. You can switch if it stops working for you.

I have taken both Remicade and now take Humira. I developed antibodies to Remicade and couldn't take it after I stopped it for time. I have been on Humira for 3 years after having surgery and am in remission. I suggest you try the Humira. It is much more convenient as you mention. Don't be surprised that the injection hurts. A small price to pay. Warm the pen for a half hour out of the fridge, ice the area for injection. It helps. Good luck!

I have 2 daughters with Crohn's. I would recommend going with Remicade first. The Humira shots are painful and I think Remicade is a better drug in helping prevent other Crohn's complications like fistulas. My daughter receives her infusion in 1 hour at outpatient chemo center.

I am not a doctor... just my thoughts
