Ok I had my small bowel resection in Feb. Gastro doc wanted a follow up colonoscopy to check things out 4-6 months from surgery.

Well my results showed some imflammtion at the anastomosis site and the biopsy from part of the small bowel she could reach showed mild imflammtion!! :ybatty:

Been on just Humira for over a year now and continued Humira after resection but guess its not enough, so have started imuran in addition to Humira!! JOY :(

So follow up from colonoscopy was yesterday and was also 2 weeks since starting imuran so had to get blood work as well.

My results were emailed to me just now and it shows I'm slightly anemic and sed rate She said was very slightly elevated.

This is the first time I've gotten blood work from this gastro, my normal less aggressive gastro never tells me my results unless I ask or something if wrong, so I've never really gotten so SEE them and study them.

So I have a question about sed rate mine is 23!! Is that bad?

Also what is c reactive protein indicate? Mine is 0.5!

Help??

Both blood tests are right here in the forum wiki: http://www.crohnsforum.com/wiki/Blood-test-codes-and-results-explained E.S.R. and C.R.P.

Although Mayo Clinic says this about E.S.R. (dunno where the wiki info came from), "The normal range is 0-22 mm/hr for men and 0-29 mm/hr for women. The upper threshold for a normal sed rate value may vary somewhat from one medical practice to another." http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/sed-rate/MY00343/DSECTION=results

So if we go by the Mayo Clinic, which is reputable, then 23 is on the higher end for the "normal" range but isn't terribly high.

As for the CRP, normal range is 0-4 and if yours is 0.5 which is less than one, I'd say its pretty good. It would seem that some med you're on is doing its job and your inflammation is not high. Do you know what the readings were before this last one to know if its gone down at all and how much?
