So I had my scope two weeks ago and Im off to get the results today. Im a little bit panicky because my crohns has progressed from only my transverse, ascending and sigmoid colons into my ileum too now. Im guessing theres going to be a change of medication. Oh and one always feels a little apprehensive when getting biopsy results.

Strangely I have felt sooooo much better in the last seven days than I have in the last seven months, so maybe that will save me from a medication change. Im hopeful at least.

I know how hard it is to want something to be wrong so it can be fixed, but at the same time hope that everything is alright. I hope you were able to find out how to take care of yourself better. Please keep us updated. Sending hugs your way.

Well, some good and some bad.

The good, nothin as bad as I wasnt hoping for. I was convinced my ok run was about to be over, and that I was gonna have to do some serious medications or even a surgery or something, but yay for me, not the case.

The first suggestion was a course of steriods. I asked if there were other options, because Ive only had to take one course of them before, and they keep me up at night, a lot. A WHOLE DAMN LOT. And as my youngest child is going on holidays, ive elected to take some extra hours at work, which involves either 530am starts or 6am starts. So that means me getting up at 4am, and if im not getting to sleep til after 3am or more, thats not gonna work out. I know, I know, I gotta take care of me, but taking care of bills is a kind of taking care of me, and I gotta weigh up the pro's and cons.

So heres the plan: Im getting to up my usual medication of sulfasalazine from 4ooomg a day to 8000mg a day. Yeah, thats gonna be interesting. Im going to go up to 6000mg a day for a week, then 7000mg a day for another week, then 8ooomg a day for two weeks. In which case I get to make the decision as to whether im improving or not. If Im improving, Im gonna stay there for a bit, then bring it back down to 3000mg a day over the next weeks following that.

If that doesnt work out for me, then I can either add the steroid course, or switch to azasomething. I cant remember the name, but Ive written it down somewhere.

I will also be getting me some iron infusions, which Im seriously looking forward to. Thats gotta make a huge difference to my ability to carry on surely.

so, whadya's reckon? top plan or what????
