I know nuts are sharp and high in insoluble fiber but what about soaked nuts that are peeled and ground into a flour? Are these safe? What about a smooth nut butter?

When my son was diagnosed, we were told no seeds or pieces of nuts. Dietitien specifically said smooth peanut butter, nutella, etc. were fine.

The almonds are blanched and ground very fine. I was really worried the first time I gave him some but it seems to be fine. He ate an almond flour waffle for dinner tonight and loved it. I just wish the almond flour wasn't so expensive.

Thanks a good tip. One member of my local diet club has troubles with nuts even though she likes them very much. maybe that's a solution

nogutsnoglory - Have you seen or tried the peanut butter with honey? I haven't tried it personally but from what I've heard it's nice and smooth and also a healthier alternative

Ohh ok. I just read you asking about nut butter so I wasn't sure what that allows or permits

I don't do peanuts either - peanut butter gives me awful heartburn! I do almond butter, which is great and never upsets me. I also drink almond milk instead of regular milk as I am lactose intolerant. Almond milk is creamy and super yummy, my favorite of the milk-substitute type drinks. They make almond cheese too although I prefer goat cheese (it doesn't upset me like cow's dairy does and it melts really well on pizzas, etc). I haven't tried almond flour but am intrigued by it and will give it a try sometime. It seems like there are a lot of almond products out there and they should be pretty safe on the gut. Your experience may vary of course, but give some of those things a try and see how you do.
