I had surgery in February this past year and yesterday I had a colonoscopy for pain, I started getting 3 weeks ago, in the terminal ileum area. The doctor said I had scar tissue that had strictured my surgery site, so he dilated it.

Has anyone had this and how long did the dilatation last?
Thank you for the help......:)

Hey Linda,

I'm in a similar boat. I had surgery in may 2010, had a terminal ileum stricture from previous resection which they took out along with a whole bunch of stricturoplaties in the jejunum. Started getting discomfort a couple of months ago where they did the stricturoplasties so had e/scopy to find that the first stricturoplasty had scared up forming a stricture so bad that they had abort the procedure.

Had a follow up e/scopy with dilation. They dilated it to 10mm only to find that the seccond stricturoplasty was even worse. Scope aborted again. Surgery booked for 22 Nov to have them all taken out :voodoo: :frown: sorry I can't tell you how long they last.

I've wondered in the past about scar tissue. I wonder whether some of us are more prone to it than others? I've scared heavily in all surgery areas after 2 opps including the incision. I meant to ask the doc's but have so many questions running around in my head that I forgot to ask. Will definately ask before surgery.

JK
