Can you do scopes and an MRE in the same day? If you're empty from the scopes, then add the Volumen via NG, then head off to the MRE...?

You mean after the scopes? Or before?

It seems like a lot for one day. I know my daughter would be miserable if she had to wake up from scopes and go straight to an MRE.

Not sure if you can do it?? And, yes, S would be miserable but... to be honest, he'd be cranky at having to make two trips for tests. Not sure which would be worse! :ack:

But, if you can do it, might be easier to do the MRE first... he might be groggy and unwell after a scope.

IDK the technical answer to that question but logistically getting an appointment for both on the same day and at the exact time that you would be recovered from scopes and ready to start the 2 hours of drinking etc, I would imagine would be like getting an audience with the Pope! Forget about how hungry you would be.

Not a good idea at all
They give meds during MrE to paralyze the gut not to
Mention barium stays in the GI tract for days afterwards
If you did it before the scope then the lower intestine is full of barium so no scope.
After a scope the body is too taxed and needs to recover from anesthesia plus biopsy ( cuts in the intestine ) would not be good to put fresh barium on the cuts
Let alone risks of med interaction

We did them 3 days part. This was after the GI personally calling every centre and asking who was reading the MRI.

Our GI won't schedule any tests after scopes until the gut has time to heal. A bled quite a bit with her last colonoscopy so I can't imagine doing something like an MRE afterward.

Our GI only does them really close went the need to rule out something very serious. In S case Crohn's treatment could not be started prior to the MRI. The worst week of my life.

Jae did a three day run: MRE on Monday, clean out on Tuesday, scopes on Wednesday.Or it might have been GI visit on Monday, MRE followed by clean out on Tuesday, then scopes on Wed. It was all done in three days I remember. Then pill cam 9 days later.

We just did scopes last Thursday and MRE on Friday, but GI wouldn't do them the same day because he said that kids' stomachs often will not tolerate the contrast after the bowl prep for the colonoscopy and the anesthesia.

When I went to Mayo, I had an EGD/Colonoscopy one day then the next day had an Ultrasound Small Bowel in the morning and an MRE in the afternoon.. I didn't really get to eat for like 3 days because of it.. They were hoping to get me in for my MRE the first day I was there, but couldn't squeeze me in.
