Well i went for my check up at the hospital, everything seems to be going good he wants to keep me on azathioprine as it seems to be working.

He took the ususal blood tests and also asked if i wanted to participate in a research project on mouth lesions associated with Crohns Disease. As there is an increasing evidence that lesions such as mouth ulcers, or even swelling of the lips might be a mirror of intestinal Crohns Disease.

An evaluation of the relationship between intestinal Crohn's Disease and Oral Crohn's Disease.

It involves

Completing two questionaires about your health and how it impacts on you.
Undergo an oral examination.
Provide 15ml of blood for DNA or a buccal wipe sample.
Agree to your DNA and blood being stored for future research into CD.

Its been done at the University of Otago

So i said i would do it.

I am glad everything is going well for you. And good luck with the study - it sounds interesting!

Hi Becca - That does sound interesting! I have been suffering from lip issues myself - swelling and extreme chapping - and I am convinced it's Crohn's related. I wish I could participate in the study!!
