Quick update.
Had Patency Capsule on Friday (now Sunday morning in NZ), and back to hospital tomorrow for xrays to make sure it has/is passing through my strictures. Down to 25mg Pred, and seem to be coping well. However, In February I had a bad seizure/tongue bite and they have continued daily (but less violent) since then. On Friday I was over-come by the most acrid smell in my sinus area with accompanying dizzyness and confusion. lasting only a few seconds. This continued every two minutes for three hours. Finally went to doctors who sent me to A&E hospital where after tests, have said I have Temporal Lobe Epilepsy. The specialists are convinced that the seizures are not related to my existing medications. I'm home now and taking the Epilepsy meds. Incredible that 'another' illness is added to the list! Good thing is that my stomach is tolerating the Epilepsy medication, as normally I react pretty severely to oral meds :0)

I'm sorry to hear that Rev Dog. :( Is the new medication helping? How are you feeling? Did the capsule pass?

Thanks, Jennifer.
Patency Capsule hasn't passed, and I can feel where it is. I was able to tell the Radiographer where it was too, before the x-ray, and was spot on :0) I find it quite unpleasant.
I've been having just a couple of seizures over the last couple of days since starting the Epilepsy tabs. Making me very drowsy though, and really frustrating not being able to drive :0)

That's awful I'm sorry to hear that. What's your doctor's plan with the capsule?

So, Pill Cam appears to have passed, and just waiting on the results. Still weaning from Pred, on 20mg for next 10 days, and reducing by 5mg weekly until down to 10mg and 1mg weekly after that.

Seizures appear to be under control, but means I am now taking more medication - Sodium Valproate - with its own side effects.

I appear to have recovered from the bowel-prep for the Pill Cam, and are just waiting on the results :0)

So sorry you are going through this.

I have had to increase my seizure med and add a new one since my Crohn's has started acting up again. Each one has its own set of side effects.

Wow, cantthinkstr8t - you also have seizures? Is this a relatively common condition with IBD?

I am not sure how common it is, but I do know that seizures make IBD a little more difficult to manage and vice versa.

The medicine I take for Crohn's lowers my immunity and makes me sick which lowers my threshold for seizures(I had a lowered immunity anyway so the meds really just add insult to injury so to speak).

With the threshold lowered, I have more seizures which stress out my body and makes my Crohn's worse.

Arrgggg! Just had phone call from Gastro nurse. Pill Cam didn't make it past my stomach. Might still be in there somewhere. Have to wait till May 26th to have a new one placed lower down with endoscopy :0(
