Hi All,
As you know my daughter is the one with crohns but this question is for me. I figured a lot of people here have had experience with endoscopy so I figured you all might know the answer. I have been having some severe issues with heartburn/GERD. I went for an upper endosocpy yesterday. I was okay after but right before I went to bed I started getting this pain in my esophagus right around the bottom of my neck area. It hurts bad during swallowing and then feels somewhat better. It also feels like there is a lump there. I have not been able to eat all day. I keep throwing up. I finally was able to hold down a little bit of soup just now. Someone suggested to me that it may be a scratch in the esophagus from the scope. Has anyone ever had this happen? How fast did it go away? This is driving me crazy! I called my doctor and he basically told me it was because I am super sensitive from my fibromyalgia and pushed it off.

Is there another doctor you could ask (I'm so used to having X amounts of doctors so I dunno if you saw a GI for the scope or if your GP is handling it all or what)? I've never had issues like that after an upper scope (or any issues at all that I can remember). If you're still throwing up tomorrow (just a suggestion, of course you don't have to wait until tomorrow) could you try to go to the ER maybe if your doc refuses to see you still?

hi crabby
it was done by my gi doctor. someone advised me to take a medication like valium if I had it which I did. I was able to eat some soup and then went to bed. I woke up definitely improved but still not 100% I still feel like there is a lump when I swallow and pain that radiates down but the pain is not as bad as yesterday. I think my daughters gi who I spoke with is correct about it being a scratch and it will take a few days to heal.
