Severe stabbing pains in stomach

I have been suffering with right upper quadrant pain, which is caused by strictures - strictures which showed on CT scan but not during sigmoidoscopy - and just now after being to the toilet had severe stabbing pains in the same area which took my breath away. I have also incessant stomach gurgling. After the case of the disappearing strictures, I wondered whether my symptoms were either in my mind or IBS. But I am sure this is stricture pain. Has anyone had similar symptoms? I am wondering whether I should ring hospital yet again, but want to be sure first.:sign0085:

I would think this is more likely to be IBD. There's no harm in calling the hospital!

I'm also moving this thread to our new Strictures & Obstructions subforum, so hopefully you will get more responses there!

Have you gone to the hospital yet? It's always worth it if something isn't quite normal. It's much better to go in and have planned treatment as opposed to being admitted into the ICU with no idea what's going on.

I have had the same pain (just under my ribs on the right), and it is strictures for me.

What do you mean by disappearing strictures?

Thanks for the reply. I did ring the hospital and brought my appointment forward. I discovered that the sigmoidoscopy wouldn't have shown the strictures as they are in my terminal ileum. I thought I was imagining it for a while.

I have never been able to have a full colonoscopy because as soon as it gets near the terminal ileum it starts to loop back. I've had 3 of them and no Gastro so far has been able to, so they just examine what they can and call it a flexi-scope or sigmoidoscopy. I'm glad that you have answers!

Have they gone over any sort of treatment options with you yet?

It sounds familiar to me! I hope they can figure things out for you soon. Go to the hospital if it gets too bad.

Thanks for the replies. Hospital next Tuesday, had blood tests to check for inflammation today so can take them with me. Pain so bad now I am struggling to eat and am medicated to my eyeballs.

Had blood tests yesterday to check levels as well as CRP. The GP surgery just rang to book a telephone appointment to discuss results. The irony is that it will be after I have picked up the results and taken them to the hospital. It might just be low vitamin and minerals as I have been having problems with dehydration. I wonder though whether it is related to the Aziathropine? I'll pick them up Monday to tired to rock down there at the moment.
