Hey guys just wondering how many others out there have trouble sleeping.

I'm averaging 4-5 hours a night and its very broken light sleep I don't want to take sleeping pills as I have had trouble in the past.

Has anyone got any suggestions on how to get a good nights sleep

I try not to eat a big dinner and try not to eat past 7 or 8 pm but still have problems at night

I go through phases of struggling to sleep. I will often listen to relaxing music in bed- it helps my mind switch off and even if I can't sleep at least it's restful.

When I am having trouble with sleep, I use an herb called Valerian root. It's worked well for me, I've read that it's one of the leading sleep aids in Europe.

I hear ya. Valerian works well, just be warned the capsules smell like rotten feet, they don't taste like that though ;) Tightening up and relaxing muscles, start with the face and work down. Or the reverse, talk to your self (hee hee) 'scalp let go', 'forehead let go' etc. You can try melatonin or trytophan (non-habit forming) as well. Like the crohns it's not a one fix. Hopefully one of them will do the trick for you. Sweet Dreams

I've been afraid to use melatonin, Mayo clinic says it can possible trigger flares in Crohn's, and can cause inflammation, another thing we don't need.

It is a possibility. In some autoimmune classifications there have been increased inflammation, RA being one. I haven't notices any effects myself but my body reacts differently to a whole host of meds.
