So yesterday i woke up at about 11:30 to be at work at 1. For lunch i had a foot long ham and cheese from subway, lettuce, pickles, oil and vinegar, mayo, and honey mustard. Had a coke and a bag of Cheetos. During the rest of the night, (work 1pm-10pm) i had a rolo or two and a mini snickers or two, also drank a powerade. After dinner we went to hooters. I had a 20 piece buffalo shrimp and a pink lemonade. After dinner we were standing outside just talking and chilling. it was about midnight, and i started feeling light headed, i sat down for a bit but every time i stood up i got dizzy. One of the guys suggested that i sit in the air conditioning in my truck. I tried to walk to my truck and as i got to it i passed out and lost bowl control. they said i was out for less then a minute. I had my brother and sister-in-law come get me... I felt fine after a shower and all, but it was a bit scary since it never happened to me before. Anyone have any ideas of what it could have been? Got a doctor appointment scheduled at 1 pm today.

I think the real question here is "Was that a 5 dollah foot-loooong"?
The only time that has happened to me recently was when I hadn't eaten enough, and I almost passed out in the shower cuz I was so hot. I had to lay there in the tub for quite a while before I could stumble out.
Almost sounds like you didn't eat enough during your work hours. Only a teeny bit of candy and a powerade the whole 9 hours at work? If I read that correctly, it sounds like sub before work, Hooters afterwards. (At least you enjoyed the view at Hoots though!)
Good luck at your appt. Let us know.

That's kind of scary, Mark - glad you are feeling better. I really don't know what could have happened. Please let us know what the doctor said.

I've had weird near-fainting experiences too. Only I don't really know why. And I've never actually lost consciousness. Just my vision, to the point of momentary blindness. Good luck at your appointment, Mark, and be sure to lemme know what your doctor says.

Wow Mark. That is not quite the ending one would want after being at Hooters. Good thing you had people with you, even though it was probably embarrassing for you. I hope all went well at your doctors appointment and you get some answers as to what happened!

Mark -
That happened to me a couple years back. I was walking inside a supermarket, felt dizzy and next thing I know I'm on the floor looking up at strangers. I wish it happened at hooters - would've been a more attractive group of nurses. Never found out what caused it.

Anyways, hope you get some answers. But, I wouldn't freak out. Could've been just a weird faint caused by heat, odd lighting, ear imbalance, who knows.

Anyways, I'm amazed you can eat what you ate? Any one of the coke, snickers, powerade or buffalo shrimp would knock me out!

Well they did a EKG and took some blood. not sure what happened. Hopefully the blood work will show something. He said it might have been an anemia thing or possibly dehydration.

Well good to hear you're doing ok. It doesn't seem to be something they are too worried about. Hopefully it is something simple, like a dehydration issue.

aw mark that sucks!
like fen said though, im glad there were people there to help you and you werent alone.
cant say ive ever had any fainting experiences though....i dont think ive ever passed out in my life. dizziness due to anemia is common for me though, but deff not as severe as your experience there.
i hope the tests they did today show something...
let us know hun!

i have this every once in a while to! like i will stand up and my vision goes tunnel then black and i have to hold a wall or sit back down really quick, but ive never passed out b4 and no drs have ever said it was ne thing to worry about, but it happens prolly 5-8 times a month, still not sure what does it....

the stand up and get tunnel vision has happened before but i had been standing for a while so it was weird

the blacking out upon standing happens to me when im anemic. have to hold myself between the walls going down the hallway.
like you said though. only UPON standing....when youre already standing and it happens, well thats kinda different.

Wow! Sorry to hear that happened to you Mark! What a bummer!!!!

I had something like that happen to me a few weeks ago down at the softball field. I think it was a cross between the heat, the meds, & not drinking enough that day. All of a sudden I became really light-headed & began to throw up. After I puked I felt better, but not 100% till I went to bed & slept for 12 hours.

I hope the Dr can give you some kind of answer! Keep us posted!

Hey Mark

I am glad that you are feeling better, And at least it wasn't anything more serious that just fainting, as some had said I am sure that it was embarrassing at the time but at least you had people around you. Hope that you get better and that it doesn't happen to you again.

feeling fine today, slept almost 12 hours last night, would have slept longer but it was my brother b-day pool party so i had to get up. But all in all i feel good. I wish i knew what caused it. Hope it wasn't anything like lack of oxygen to the brain or anything. although being at hooters could have caused it too...

ha maybe you should get and oxygen tank to take with you when you go lol! well im glad your feeling better tho! i wish i could sleep for 12 hrs no matter what time i go to bed i always wake up around 7 and cant get back to sleep, hm oh well!!

I went through a spell in which I was very light headed as well. It went away on it's own. It does sound like it could be easily be related to the Crohn's and maybe a blood test would reveal a critical number in something.

i think hooters would've caused oxygen to flow to your other brain.... :shifty-t:

You haven't had blood in the stool or anything like that have you? Low blood or heat stress are about all I can think of that would be common causes of passing out.

Possibly a big drop in blood sugar could do this. If I eat something sweet, like breakfast cereal, I will have a plunge in blood sugar an hour later that makes me shaky and weak. I will get so shaky that I cannot even tie my shoes. One reason I do not eat sugary food, by itself, anymore.

If it keeps on happening you should take a tilt table test for dysautonomia . This is unlikely, but it is one of the symptoms. It also can be diabetes, and autoimmune disease related, which brings us back to blood sugar.

Maybe one of the Hooter's girls gave you some date rape drugs?

The trouble with males is blood can only flow to one head at a time. This explains all of the one armed men out there. See if you can figure that one out?

Dan

Sometimes what's happening is called orthostatic hypotension, when there's a sudden change in demand for blood/ a quick change in blood pressure, going from sitting/laying down to standing/walking... it's also a side effect of some medications (like the seroquel I take)...it's almost like a half-blackout for a few seconds and a dizzy feeling, but usually when it happens to me, I just have to stand still for a moment and let it pass. Happens after getting up too quickly, if that's what it was, or like some other posts described.

Could have been that your diet for the day (sugar?) and dehydration or the heat put your body in a borderline state, and when you got up to walk to your truck, it was too quick? I'm just speculating.

Usually I'd personally be quick to suspect a recent change in either sleep, meds, or diet that would cause such an incident, but as everyone said, it could have been any number of things. Hope you didn't hurt yourself falling down in a parking lot.

fainting

do u have blood in your stools? You might be losing blood somewhere.
Your blood was messed up...I am sure it's ok now, thats because your body will re-supply itself.
Let us know what happens when you get your results back.

This was actually my 1st post ever on a message board. I am just learning about chrons coloitis, I was diagnosed 3 months ago and am just now reading on it.
