My son is in the hospital due to a crohns flare up since Aug can't seem to get over the hump on 40 g humira weekly and has been on tons of steroids, having pain on left mid lower side of stomach but having only mucus bowel movements and is scheduled for a colonoscopy Monday. Been dealing so much with this disease I'm hitting a mental brick wall has been on humira weekly and lots of steroids no change any advice or common affects? :sign0085::sign0085:

crohn's warrior: I am sorry your boy is having such a rough go of it. You may want to start your own thread so you may get more views and more targeted feedback. Perhaps an administrator or monitor of sorts can move your post for you. They don't give me those super powers around here so paging Dustykat, Jennifer...

I am sorry I also do not have advice for you but I am sure someone will be along shortly to help you out.

Our paths must have crossed crohns warrior when I was creating the new thread for you.

I have blended the your two original posts and deleted the second thread.

Dusty. :)

Sorry to hear that. No experience with Humira, but I would have thought it should work by now. Maybe he needs a different med? Hope the colonoscopy goes okay

Has he been on Remicade? have they tried adding something to Humira, like Imuran or Methotrexate? My daughter also didn't do well on weekly Humira but once we added Methotrexate, it worked like magic.
Hang in there, hopefully the colonoscopy will give you more information.

He has been on remicade for 6 years but grew an antibody to it does not work anymore, the mexothratrate gave him nerve damage had to stop it I'm glad your daughter is doing better

My daughter did humira and methotrexate and humira and imuran. There are a lot of positives about combo therapy in research studies.

I know it is frustrating when meds just don't kick in fast enough to make a difference. I hate prednisone but sometimes it is a necessity We have done cortifoam, a steroid foam that is inserted in the rectum. we have also done steroid enemas. If the inflammation is somewhere where they can reach relief comes faster as it goes directly to the source of the pain. That being said my teen hates them and now will only do it to avoid prednisone. Stay strong, ask tons of questions from the docs and keep us updated!

Sorry to hear your son is going through this. It sounds like humira might not be the drug for him. Might be time to discuss another alternative with your son's doctor.
