Hi ya All!

Just wondering - I've read a few threads dealing with abscesses and fistula, and know people must get sore bums from frequent visits to the loo and possible leakage - so I'm wondering if anyone here has every been prescribed Colestyramine Cream.

I first tried it about 12 to 18 months ago now - and it's been brilliant for me. It's great for the skin around the rectum and/or oozing abscess wounds and fistualae (which I'm constantly plagued with).

I have an ileostomy now, but still have my rectum. It still produces mucus and gets really, maddeningly itchy at times. I also have draining abscesses and sinuses which leave the skin chaffed and rubbed sore. The Crohn's Dermatologist prescribed Colestyramine Cream and it's been a huge relief to find something that actually works at soothing and protecting the skin, stopping the itching and making life that little more comfortable. I'd tried many different creams in the past, but nothing ever really helped.

Has anyone else tried it and to what success? I can't live without it!

That's really interesting about the cream. I take the oral form of it to reduce the bile acid D. I googled the cream because I never heard of it. It said it helps with the burning from uric acid. Thanks for sharing.

I have also heard of Nifedipine cream for help with fissures etc.

I must say that most of us here love Calmoseptine. You should check out the threads. They're pretty funny.
