I've been in a flare up for probably about a year and change of having barely any good days what so ever. I would get maybe 2-3 days of being "okay" every 2 weeks or so but always had something wrong whether it be bad D, cramps, or that foggy "crohn's brain feeling."
About a month and a half ago I got a terrible stomach virus that had me vomiting with insane cramping and terrible D to the point of me having nothing left but clear water when I would go to the bathroom for 3 days. After I recovered, however, I've been in this random state of remission where I actually feel completely 100% normal. I've never felt this normal since I was probably 19, which is now 10 years ago.
I can't say this is what caused me to get better for now but I find it strange and maybe does point that Crohn's really is much to do with your ecosystem living down there. It's almost like I flushed everything out and have started over again. Anybody here have success with fecal transplants or anything similar to whats happening here?
Also, about 3 months before I got better I decided to go dairy free but hadn't seen much significant change while I was doing it. I had also tried a diet of nothing but grilled chicken, eggs, and rye toast for over 6 months. During that time I may have been at my worst maybe from almost no fiber?
I'm still maintaining a dairy free diet in fear of it causing problems and the fact that dairy is just bad for you in general. After my first few days feeling pretty good I also introduced salads, lots of vegetables, wraps, and fiber related foods which I think also might be helping me along as well. I'm really not sure what to give credit for this remission other than it being totally random, which is still may be, but who knows.
Anyway, I thought I'd share and see if anyone else has any similar stories or input. As of now I'm just enjoying finally feeling normal for once! Hopefully it'll last long enough to provide a decent break from these past few years.
