Got my Colonoscopy with Balloon Dilation on Monday 8.30am. Start my Prep (Picolax) 3 sachets, tomorrow @ 7.30am.
Strangely looking forward to getting this done finally after the last aborted attempt because the Dr wasn't qualified to do the Dilation in June. Get Monday over with & get on Methetrexate asap & make this disease hopefully a thing of the past.
Onwards. :)

Rachel, David Tks very much. a few weeks ago I didn't think I would get this far I was having really bad problems & was verging on obstruction again. One phone call to my wonderful specialist nurse & I'm back on Entocort 3 capsules daily & thankfully the threat of obstruction has receded-which makes me extremely hopeful that its inflammation not scarring.
I'm ready to kick Crohns arse!!

All the best Grant! I'm glad you're feeling positive!

Have a good book or magazine with you to read during your frequent visits to the loo. Or the game 'Angry Birds'-that was a good distraction for me when I went through my prep!

Thinking of you.

Tks Jonnyb, its going reasonably. I've done 2 out of the 3 sachets. Got a good book as you say "With Wings Like Eagles" about the Battle of Britain. Just told my wife off for eating in ft of me.

All done. The specialist managed to dilate it to 12-15mm. It took 2 or 3 different balloon sizes to get that far.
Had a night from hell last night, I wasn't "clear" even after 3 sachets of Picolax so decided to drink water like it was going out of fashion. Sadly this kept me up all night on the toilet with no noticeable difference. Plus had a monster headache which @ 5.30.am I decided required paracetamol. That finally sorted that out.
Gastro staff were very understanding & told me not too worry & in fact the specialist got a decent view.
I was sedated only slightly & managed the whole thing on Gas & Air. I even managed to discuss the impending start of Methetrexate with him & told him of my fears that all the good work could be undone by the 17 day wait to see him again. No probs its going to be sorted via Specialist Nurse soon.
Very happy now, feel I might finally be making progess.
Best Wishes

Glad you made it Grant! I never have a problem with Pico Salax but then again I have 2ft of intestine removed. Also never eat meat 2 days prior to the fasting cause it takes to long to digest. It is a better prep but no one seems to realize you have to drink water with it. Hope you get the results soon let us know.

Pen, tks for that. They did some biopsies but they take about 6 weeks for results. I never ever got to know the results of some taken in June!!
But the plan is to be on Methetrexate soon-I'm happy with that. Because I've had it with this(as have we all). I really am @ the end of my tether & willing to give anything a go now because this flare has been going for over two years now save a 6week period immediately post surgery last year. Enough is enough.
But tonight I'm feeling positive @ last.
Best Wishes

Hey Grant are you taking the shot or the pills, btw take Folic acid BEFORE you start , they help with the nausea and affects.

Pen, I dont know as yet but as a guess I would say Pills. Folic acid-tks for that I will ask my GP for it.

Hey Grant, glad that it's all over and done with and that you're feeling positive as a result! Keep us updated. Hope you enjoyed the Battle of Britain book too!

Tks JonnyB. Just want to get on the Methotrexate really & move on. Still reading the book-vg.
Take care
Grant

Pen, I've found out today its likely to be injections-no problem for me as needles dont phase me anymore except when they struggle to get blood out. But putting stuff in by needle-no worries. Is that right that it cuts down on some of the side effects??
