Starting Humira this week

Good luck with it!! Humira was great for me while it worked :) I felt better pretty quickly with it too. Let us know how it goes for you.

I was on it for 4 years total. The first two years were pretty good when I was on 1 shot every other week. I got into a big flare and then I was put on one shot every week and felt pretty good for another couple of years.

Two years for me. So far so good. I was real nervous before I started, scared of the "possible" sideffects. Guess what, there were none and I worried needlesely for months.

It is no where as bad as some make it out to be. At least for me ;))

I agree. The potential side effects for a lot of these drugs make them seem more scary. Normally, everything turns out just fine. I even had a baby while on Humira and she is healthy as can be.

I took a while to decide. I think it's important to weigh the risk both ways - if it's 1 in a million gets cancer, that's great - unless you're the 1. Then you have to live with having made the decision. The odds that my Crohn's would get way worse are 99%. Soooooo, tomorrow I take another shot. Beginning my 4th month on Humira.

Life is full of risks.

How did your shots go, jeep?

I was just approved for coverage through my ins company on this past Thursday. Just waiting for the prescription to be sent to the pharmacy. So hopefully I can start this week.

I took my first set of Humira injections on Thursday, and I was amazed at the immediate improvement I've experienced. I'm feeling better now than I have in months. I was making 5-10 bathroom trips a day regularly, but now I'm feeling great. Good luck! I hope Humira works as well for you as it has for me.

I hope to have the same quick results. I am taking around 8 bathroom breaks a day. Makes it even harder when you work on a car assembly line and you need to go to the washroom right away. The stress that goes with that alone it a lot.

Don't expect miracles, but, I too had really fast results. One must give "the juice" some time to work. I'd say full effect should kick-in in about 6 weeks or so.

We'll be pulling for ya! Good Luck

Just had my second dose on Friday.
I delayed the start and was very scared about starting it after having a really bad experience with Infliximab.
Like the others above - the results have been extremely positive and rapid.
Within a week the active disease around my Stoma cleared up, along with my throat and mouth ulcers.
I'm delighted with it.

Oh I love all these posts. I start humira in a few weeks, and I didn't do well on Infliximab either, but I keep reading so many humira sucsess stories, though only two to four years max. It's still pretty great by sounds, I just hope I can take mine to my local GP every fortnight, and get the nurse to do it. I don't think I could stomach having to, as woussy as that sounds, even after countless blood tests for crohns, I still turn the other way when needing to get one :/

So he is a update. My drug store has ordered my prescription. By the sounds of it. I will be getting 4 pens for the first dose. Should be in tomorrow. Then I have a nurse coming for the first time free of charge. I did watch the DVD. Seems easy enough to use the pen. Hey they asked if I would like a nurse to come to my house for the first time, why not.

Jeepin it,
I'm glad to hear that your doing well, My son will be starting it soon and I was worried. This is a great forum. I need to get my son online!
