I have the nurse twice today and yesterday afternoon. Well today I feel like crap had 3 hot flushs, vomit once indoor and 4 more on way to shop only small amounts and yesterday evening and morining felt nausea. On occassion feel like I was ready to pass out, still look pale face. No d yet. Stomach started hurt bit.

I wish the nurse would just ring back please.

i might be way off here, because i don't know your history up to this point Jo, but to me it sounds more like a bug than anything else... i'd keep off solids, but drink as much as you can, in little sips if it makes you feel nauseous, and maybe even try some rehydration drinks such as Dioralyte or Electrolade... and don't stop bugging the nurse - ring her, ring the gp.. just get someone to take note of your symptoms and give their opinion!

I just spoke to nurse was told to back going to my Gp.

I just phone GP and with bit luck should get phone back 2:45pm. Now that service

glad to hear you're finally getting somewhere! let us know what the doc says, when you get chance... and good luck!

Doctor advice is to take Gavison as well peppermints caps already taken, drinking plenty of milk and see now weekend go if no better. I will have to going to Doctors monday.

erm... i hate to say anything against your doc, but concentrated peppermint is supposed to be avoided by those with intestinal lining issues - like Crohn's. :(

it's fine if it's in medicine, or even chewing gum, but the peppermint oil, and the capsules containing the oil, are probably something you should think twice about...

Really! The dr under my new Gi whonever they are, told me to taken me it but then he also said the my sydrome are more like IBS then Crohns.

yup, peppermint is good for the spasms of IBS... but if there's any doubt about whether you might have Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis, i would steer clear of concentrated peppermint...

i remember clearly when i was in hospital, post-surgery, and i felt sick... a nurse brought me a tiny cup of peppermint oil dissolved in hot water and told me to sip it.. which i did, and it was helping... my surgeon was doing his ward round, and when he saw what i was drinking, he snatched it away and shouted at the nurse... so that's how i know - i asked him what the problem was & he explained it to me.

"Peppermint tea is considered safe, but peppermint oil can have adverse side effects such as a burning sensation in the stomach or rectum if not taken as advised.

to me, this means that if it can cause soreness in the stomach & rectum, it can anywhere in our digestive tract - and if we're already ulcerated due to Crohn's/UC then it's just going to make things worse...

there is a lot of data supporting the use of peppermint oil in Crohn's, on the internet, but i wouldn't be true to myself or doing the best by you if i didn't share what i'd been told...

Why I am under the impression that I am be treating for ibs and not Crohns.

Even that know I told in 2007 that I have Crohns.

Thank you for help and infor Dingbat

it does sound to me as if your doctor (who you spoke to today) is treating your symptoms as IBS and indigestion.. but given the symptoms you've posted here, i would've thought he'd have suggested something else for you, at the very least an appointment...

is this doctor your gastro specialist or your gp?

hmm.. ok, if i were you, i'd try and get an urgent appointment with the hospital gastro team... and tell them how you've been the past few days - and ask about the diagnosis. if it's IBS then the treatment is different to what it would be if you had Crohn's.
