Hi I'm creating this thread to try reach out or help others reaching out. I'm 19 and a student trying to complete a Bachelor of Game Dev. It's a two year course, I've completed my first year and then I had to defer for 6 months and come back part time. I'm struggling. I'm so ill and nothing is has got better in the past 2 years. I'm slowly getting worse and more depressed. I'm so alone. I have no one that truely understands. I have a medical crew that have no idea what they're doing and they're just fucking spiders at this point. I'm consistently in hospital. My meds do nothing but make me nauseous. I can hardly eat a piece of toast. I just want this to end. I want to go travelling and see the world but if I get out of bed I'm in crippling pain and need to be near a bathroom always.

If anyone is located in Brisbane I'd really love to meet someone. I don't know anyone with Crohns except my mother but she's 2 hours away and doesn't know how to support or help me.

Thanks

Hey I'm sorry to hear what you are going through. I am in the UK and have Crohn's and currently 5 months into a 3.5 year PhD. I don't go in everyday, which helps me I just do 3 days a week. I guess it also helps me that I'm just sat at a desk all day when I do go in. I think it's going to be rough when I start having to go and visit participants. What medication are you currently on and have been on? My medication isn't helping me either though my GI doesn't listen to me so I am hoping to transfer soon.

Hey Eleanor, wow 3 days is impressive. I can barely do 1 at this point :( I hope you do find some relief, have you spoken to your doctor about 'not seeing any improvement or help". When that happened to me I got too a point where I cried my eyes out in front of them begging for help and they finally started doing things.

I have been on Prednisone, Remicade, Humira, Sulfasalazine, Pentasa (oral and suppositories), Azathioprine (Imuran), Mercaptopurine (MP-6), Thioguanine (Lanvis), Mesalazine (Salofalk granules), Endep.

Currently I am on weekly Humira injections, Lanvis and Endep. Tomorrow I'll be getting a Remicade infusion (I havent had remicade since 2015, before I was 18 and unable to get humira my previous doctor gave me a months dose to be able to move to Brisbane for uni and then start Humira once I turned 18)
