Any fashion freaks around here? I have a question for those fashion people who have been/are on prednisone: any suggestions as to what kind of fashionable shirts cover a bloated belly? I've been wearing lots of summer shirts from American Eagle, Aero, Hollister... places like that...(tight up top and baggy on bottom)...but summer is over and fall/winter fashion is def. in...and I'm still wearing my summer shirts! If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear!

Yep me too Katiesue! lol

The other thing I do is wear long skirts at work with elasticated waists in the latest colours but all detailed - like a jagged edge hemline or nice embroidery on the lower aspects of it to take the eye away from my middle.

For tops I would layer things like a fitted shirt up top that flared as you say iamalyssa or a cami top with a longish jacket. Jumpers with slash necks to take the eye to the shoulder are good too as it doesnt matter then how long or baggy they are.

That help any? Still prefer jeans and baggy t - shirts though! ;-)

Thanks guys! Yeah, I'm thinking the t-shirt thing will have to do... *sigh* lol And the moonface, yeah, the mask thing sounds like an idea...

REAL ADVICE:

This season's trend is looser jackets. Ones that flare out at the bottom. Might help cover a pred-induced belly. Outerwear usually is less formfitting, but still really cute and stylish.

Or wear last summer's long tanks/dresses over a long-sleeved shirt.

Scarves.

Long earrings to elongate and hide the moonface.

If you don't get too cold doing this, wear a shirt with a v-neck or lower neckline. If the neck of your shirt is really high and blunt it can make your face look rounder.

Sweatshirts. I'm assuming you're still in school, so show some spirit and put on a school sweatshirt!

:)

hi everyone,

i'm coming off pred and i still have the moon face and bloated stomach. i just wear long jumpers in the winter and track suits. i think tracksuits cover a multitude!!!! how long do these symptoms last after stopping pred. also has anyone experienced feeling strange and a lil out of it while taking pred.

Funny you ask... when I first started Pred I had an episode where i was completely out of it. I walked completely from my dorm to the dining hall across the street in a weird stupor. I knew where I was going, but I couldn't control what I was doing. It was scary... and it was followed by the worst pain in my life... I ended up on the bathroom floor in the dining hall in agony.

I have found that while on pred, or during an active flare, maternity pants are the best things for me...very comfy for forgiving...and the styles sure have improved since I was pregnant 16 years ago...;)

I only get a puffy face while on pred. I call it the Tootsie Pop Syndrome.
oh, and my ankles. I wish my belly would swell a bit, I'm a boney boy.

the moon face syndrome of pred is sort of a mixed blessing. Pre pred, I had new driver's license issued... complete with a pix of me looking like skin stretched over a skeleton. with the moon face, I actually look healthier. Problem is, I'm really not all that healthier. So, I guess it looks like I'm better than I really am. The bad side is that people think I'm better, which made getting a job easier, but leaves me in a postion of explaining repeatedly that looks can be deceiving... but that's a pretty common hassle to folks with IBD

Ive always had 'chubby cheeks' all my life and being on pred for over a year, really didnt help! My face was an absolute balloon! And i hated it to the core! To the point where that was the only thing stopping me going out, the lack of confidence with the moon face.
